China joins in the World Ice Skating Day in big numbers!
China are one of the many countries and regions who would be participating in the first World Ice Skating Day (WISD) on December 4, 2022.
Called on by the Chinese Figure Skating Association, there are 29 rinks/clubs from 21 cities in 16 provinces involved in the first World Ice Skating Day event in Chinese mainland.
In the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Chinese winter sports athletes achieved the best record of 9 gold medals, especially Pairs skaters Wenjing Sui/Cong Han struck gold on home ice as the Figure Skating competition at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games , which also aroused people's enthusiasm for figure skating.
The CFSA calls on all participating ice rinks/clubs to set the 10-12 a.m. on December 4, 2022 as the unified free opening time, and carry out various communication and promotion activities to celebrate the World Ice Skating Day! At that time, ice rinks all over China will carry out World Ice Skating Day activities at the same time, including the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics legacy venues, individual independent rinks, and ice rinks in shopping malls located at the CBD areas of various cities.
Below is the description of the ice-skating rinks and clubs that shall participate in the inaugural World Ice Skating Day in Chinese mainland:
National Aquatics Centre, also known as the “Water Cube”, is the landmark venue of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. During the 2008 Olympic Games, the Water Cube presented the world with a visual feast of aquatic events including swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, and other events. During the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, National Aquatics Centre was transformed into the “Ice Cube” for curling and wheelchair curling events. As a legacy venue, the Ice Sports Centre of the Ice Cube has a total operation area of 8,000 square metres, including a standard ice rink of 1830 square metres.
"World Ice Arena" is affiliated to China Resources Group, with the mission of promoting ice skating sports and attracting more people to enjoy the fun of skating. 16 ice rinks from Hefei (Anhui Province), Beijing, Chongqing, Shenzhen (Guangdong Province), Shantou (Guangdong Province), Nanning (Guangxi Province), Zhengzhou (Henan Province), Ganzhou (Jiangxi Province), Shenyang (Liaoning Province), Zibo (Shandong Province), Rizhao (Shandong Province), Qingdao (Shandong Province), Taiyuan (Shanxi Province), Chengdu (Sichuan Province) and Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province) participated in the 2022 WISD event. Among them, there are indoor commercial ice rinks that meet Olympic standards, which can be used as professional competition and training facilities for ice hockey and figure skating. In addition, World Ice Arena breaks the traditional ice rink service mode, introduces an intelligent system, with one-stop service, such as ticket purchase - entrance - skates pick-up - skating - skates return- exit, so that the customers can enjoy the unique skating service experience brought by scientific and technological life.
Qingdao Starlight Ice Rink (Shandong Province), Qingdao Zhongyi Skating Club (Shandong Province) are Skating-centered business clusters with complete supporting facilities and integrating skating, recreation, and catering services.
The Beijing Uniterra Skating Club is a leading art & sports education platform with primary focus on figure skating in China. Its business scope covers ice performances, training, merchandise and peripherals, etc., and has produced China’s first original ice dance drama Dream to Glide, which has been included in the Winter Olympics Official Cultural Heritage Roster.

Beijing Flying Star Ice Sports Center focuses on the combination between sports and education, and mainly attract and serve the students of surrounding schools to let more people experience ice sports.
Competitive Talents Training
Beijing Century Star Skating Club, Harbin Rookie Skating Club (Heilongjiang Province), Li Chengjiang Skating Academy (Hebei Province) and Xi’an Olga Ice Sports Club (Shaanxi Province) are few of the rinks that focus on promoting ice skating sports and training professional sports talents, and educate more than 100 professional skaters for the national team, provincial teams and municipal teams, including the first professional skating training institution in China.
Qingdao Conson Ice Rink (Shandong Province) is a competition venue that meets international standards.
Led by the local municipal government, the Shanxi Linfen Ice World Park is built mainly for improving people’s well-being, which promotes the popularization and development of national fitness and ice sports. The rink also carries out ice and snow sports on-campus activities with local primary and secondary schools, and provide over 1,000 hours of on-ice training free of charge
Shanxi Changzhi Enjoy Future Ice Rink is the comprehensive sports center includes ice skating, dry snow, equestrian, surfing, swimming, basketball, bowling and other sports.
With the climate of no ice or snow, in the southern plateau of China, the Tengchong Tus Ice Sports Center (Yunnan Province) is the high-mountain ice rink built to promote winter sports there. The training environment of low oxygen in the plateau can effectively improve the maximum oxygen uptake level and physical reserve of winter sports athletes.
